We provide appropriate, affordable and accessible housing to eligible tenants of the Queensland Government’s one social housing system and local government community housing agreements.
We use a consistent open and fair tenant selection process that considers individual housing needs and strives to match housing stock to demand. Eligibility and income requirements may vary from time to time in accordance with changes in Queensland Department of Housing and Public Works criteria.
Our aim is to give seniors the opportunity to stay in their communities. Council provides community housing in Emerald, Duaringa, Springsure, Capella, Anakie and Sapphire.
The Central Highlands (Qld) Housing Company Limited (CHQHC), a not-for-profit organisation, was established in 2012 to provide a local response to affordable housing needs in our region.
The Company’s activities are strategically focused and seek to promote better access to affordable housing in the Central Highlands.
Whilst the Central Highlands Regional Council play a role in the governance of the Housing Company by board membership, the company is financially independent from Council.
