School Holiday Activities

December 2019 to January 2020 School Holiday Activities

School holiday activities are an important part of council’s commitment to provide safe and planned activities for our region’s youth.

Activities are run across as many towns as possible in partnership with other youth based services.

    Bookings for activities are done through Eventbrite. Click on the button below to take you to the Eventbrite page and select your area.

    Further details on each area’s activities are listed down the side of this page.

    Age restrictions  Most activities are open for all school aged children. Activities where travel is involved are usually limited for ages 10 and over. If you have finished school and would still like to be involved simply contact the Youth Development Officer on 1300 242 686 to discuss further.

    Activity Costs – Costs will only apply to activities where entry fees are charged from an activity supplier for a child’s involvement. Where possible council has co-contributed to minimise these fees. Service providers have also partnered with council to minimise these fees also.

    General Permission – Permission forms will only need to be completed for some activities. You will be notified through the booking process and on your tickets which activities require a permission form. You will only need to complete one form per child.

    Supervision – Most activities will be supervised by Council and PCYC staff. If your child is under 10 years of age parent supervision may be required for some activities. For more details on this phone the Youth Development Officer on 1300 242 686

  • Permission Forms

    Attendance on some activities will require a permission form to be completed. You can find the link below for access to permission forms for various locations. You will only need to complete one form per child and place a tick next to the activities they are booked to attend. If you have finished school please contact the Youth Development Officer for more details and a separate form for over 18’s.

  • Transport Schedule

    A transport schedule has been developed for activities requiring busing to the event location. Please ensure to read the transport schedule for arrival times and locations. These times will alter in some communities from the times advertised on the poster due to distances.

  • Blackwater Area activity details

    December 16 – Pool and Pontoon Day

    This activity runs at the backwater Aquatic Centre between times advertised. This event is free entry for all members of the community and includes use of the inflatable pool pontoon. This event is drug and alcohol free and normal pool rules apply. Children under 12 years of age must be supervised by a guardian at all times.

    December 17 and January 20 – Rocky Bowl and Leisure

    This activity is for transport to and from the Rockhampton Bowl and Leisure Centre. This activity includes 2 games of ten pin bowling and 1 game laser tag included in the price. All participants are required to bring socks and additional money for food. A transport schedule is available for this activity from multiple locations and permission forms are all detailed in the tabs above. This activity is restricted to participants aged 10 and above.

    December 18 – Blackwater PCYC Inflatable Castle and Activities Day

    This activity is delivered at the Blackwater PCYC facility. Bookings are still required through the Eventbrite page and check-in will be managed at the PCYC. This activity is open for all ages between the advertised times.

    December 19 – Yeppoon Lagoon

    This activity includes transport to and from the Yeppoon Lagoon. The cost of this event covers lunch that will be provided during this activity. It is recommended that participants are still bring additional money for snacks as well as swimwear and sun protection. A transport schedule is available for this activity from multiple locations and permission forms are all detailed in the tabs above. This activity is restricted to participants aged 10 and above.

    January 8 – Rollerskating

    Under 10 skating will be delivered form 9 am to 1 pm. Parent supervision required during this event.

    10 and over skating will be delivered from 1 pm to 3 pm

    This activity is delivered form the Blackwater PCYC facility. Bookings are still required through the Eventbrite page.

    January 9 – Cooberrie Wildlife Park and Kershaw Gardens

    This activity includes transport to Cooberrie Wildlife Park Yeppoon and a visit to Kershaw Gardens Park on the return to Blackwater. Transport to this activity is roughly 3 hours one way. Activity cost covers participant entry to the Cooberrie Wildlife Park. Lunch will be provided to participants during this activity.  A transport schedule is available for this activity from multiple locations and permission forms are all detailed in the tabs above. This activity is restricted to participants aged 10 and above.

    January 10, 17 and 23 – Coal Centre Movie Sessions

    10 am Movie Sessions are delivered through the Blackwater International Coal Centre. The discounted price is available to those aged 25 and under only. Purchase of tickets can be done through Eventbrite from 22 November 2019. ID may be required on entry to the film. Please be at the Coal Centre at least 15 minutes before the start of the event.

    January 11 – Emerald Pool and Water Slides

    This activity includes transport to the Emerald Aquatic Centre. Activity costs cover general admission to the pool and water slide use. Food and drink purchases is at cost to the participant. Participant will also need swimwear and sun protection for this event. A transport schedule is available for this activity and permission forms are all detailed in the tabs above. This activity is restricted to participants aged 10 and above.

    January 13 – Blackwater PCYC Wet Activities Day

    This activity is delivered form the Blackwater PCYC facility. Bookings are still required through the Eventbrite page. Will include a range of activities delivered through the PCYC facility including both wet and dry games. Swimwear and a change of clothes is recommended.

    January 14 – Bluff Skate Park

    BBQ and Skate day at the Bluff Skate Park. Drinks will be supplied. No bookings required except if transport from Blackwater is needed. Participants are encouraged to wear a helmet during this event.

    January 15 – Emerald PCYC Activities Day

    This activity includes transport to the Emerald PCYC facility. Activities will include laser tag, basketball and indoor court games. Lunch will be provided during this time. Participant will also need wear enclosed shoes. A transport schedule is available for this activity and permission forms are all detailed in the tabs above. This activity is restricted to participants aged 10 and above.

    January 21 – Duaringa Outdoor Movie Night

    January 24 – Indoor Rock Climbing and Beach Games

    This activity includes transport to the Capricorn Coast Leadership Development Centre in Cooee Bay, Yeppoon for indoor rock climbing and beach games. Transport is roughly 3 hours one way. This activity is delivered in partnership with Cap Coast Leadership Centre and will include a 2 hour instructed rock climbing session. Activity costs cover the centre’s admission fees. A transport schedule is available for this activity and permission forms are all detailed in the tabs above. This activity is restricted to participants aged 10 and above.

    This activity runs at the Tieri Aquatic Centre between times advertised. This event is free entry for all members of the community and includes a sausage sizzle.     December 17 – Craft Day at Emerald PCYC

    This activity runs at the Emerald PCYC facility between times advertised.  This activity is restricted to participants aged 10 and above.

    This activity runs at the Emerald Skate Park between times advertised. Pizza and drinks will be supplied. Food eating contest will be held on the day (food TBA). Participants are encouraged to wear a helmet during this event.
