Online School Holiday Activities

School holiday activities are an important part of council’s commitment to provide safe and planned activities for our region’s youth.

Our  school holiday activities will run from Friday 18 September to Sunday 4 October.

    Due to COVID-19 safety requirements, most activities require bookings online. This can be done through chpresents.eventbritestudio.com and searching for your town or following the instructions in the tabs below.

  • COVID-19 safety measures

    A number of steps have been taken to ensure that activities are safe for all participants. These include: social distancing measures, implementation of COVID-19 safe checklists, COVID-19 marshals at our bigger events and increased sanitation at all events.

    If you are feeling unwell or have any symptoms of COVID-19, please stay home. Council and event staff may enforce exclusion from activities if participants show any symptoms or become unwell during activities. Your understanding is appreciated.

    Please follow instructions from event staff at all times and abide by social distancing guidelines.

  • Bus information and permission forms

     

    If your child is attending an excursion to Rockhampton Bowl and Leisure, Yeppoon Lagoon or Bluff Skate Day you will need to complete a permission form. You will only need to complete one form for all activities. The form can be found here.

    Permission forms will also be available to complete on the day of the activity but please arrive early and allow time to complete so the bus can leave on time.

  • Online activities and other activities to complete from home

    DIY Scrunchie Making: These holidays we will be mailing out DIY scrunchie making kits for children. These kits are perfect for the little home sewer or craft expert to make fun hair accessories. The kit includes: pre-cut fabric, elastic, sewing needle, safety pins and instructions. All you need at home is a little bit of thread. Kits are limited so get in quick by requesting one here.

    Think you can dance?  Join in a dance class over Zoom with professional instructors from Melbourne. A K-Pop dance class will take place on Sunday 20 September and a Tik-Tok dance class is scheduled for Friday 25 September.  Spaces are very limited so register now by clicking here.

    Facebook Live Art event: Council is hosting a Facebook Live art event on the Youthinc Facebook page at 10.00 am on Thursday 24 September. The event will be conducted in-person in Springsure at the Bauhinia Art Gallery and broadcast online for everyone to participate.

    Participants will be shown how to do graffiti writing at home and will learn how to draw their name in graffiti style.

    Participants will need some blank paper, pencils/textas/permanent markers and a space to work and view the event.

    You can book your space for Emerald holiday activities here.

    Boxing for fun – Wednesday 23 September: Boxing for fun and fitness will take place at the Emerald PCYC between 10.00 am-12.00 pm. The sessions will focus on pad work and general fitness. A session for kids aged under 12 will run from 10.00 am – 11.00 am followed by a session for kids aged 12 and over from 11.00 am-12.00 pm. Please bring your own gloves if you have them.

    Box Fort and Nerf War – Friday 25 September: This activity will take place at the Emerald PCYC between 10.00 am-12.00 pm. Build your own box fort and battle it out in a Nerf war with other teams. This activity is restricted to participants aged 10 and above. Please wear enclosed shoes and bring your own Nerf gun if you have one.

    Rock Art – Tuesday 29 September: This activity will be held at Emerald PCYC between 10.00 am-12.00 pm and is restricted to participants aged 8 and above. Parental supervision is required for participants aged under 10. All materials will be provided.

    Laser Tag – Friday 2 October: Four 30-minute sessions will be held at the Emerald Skate Park between 10.00 am-12.00 pm. Book your session online. This activity is restricted to participants aged 8 and above. Parental supervision is required for participants aged under 10. Please wear a hat and enclosed shoes and bring a water bottle.

    Blackwater Pool Opening – Saturday 19 September: Celebrate the Blackwater Pool opening with free entry between 10.00 am-12.00 pm. Free entry for all members of the community. Children under the age of 12 must be supervised by a parent or guardian. Normal pool rules apply for this event. Please check in with event staff before entering the pool.

    Rocky Bowl and Leisure – Tuesday 22 September: (Cost $20) This activity will depart the Blackwater PCYC Car Park at 7:45 am return at 3:30 pm. Activity includes two games of bowling and two games of laser tag at the Rockhampton Bowl and Leisure Centre at a reduced rate. Participants must wear enclosed shoes or bring a pair of socks with them. This activity is restricted to participants aged 10 and above. Additional permission form is required.

    Laser Tag and Games at PCYC – Wednesday 23 September: This activity will take place at Blackwater PCYC between 10:00 am -2.00 pm. Participants will take part in outdoor and indoor games as well as sessions of laser tag. Laser tag will run in 20 minute games and players will be rotated throughout the day. Activity includes lunch and limited supply of drinks. All equipment will be provided. Parent supervision encouraged for participants under the age of 10.

    Yeppoon Lagoon – Thursday 24 September: This excursion will depart the Blackwater PCYC car park at 7:30 am and return at 4.00 pm. Activity includes lunch and swimming at Yeppoon Lagoon. Participants need to being swimwear with them as well as a hat, water bottle, sunscreen and a change of clothes. This activity is restricted to participants aged 10 and above. Additional permission form is required

    Clay Modelling – Monday 28 September: This activity will take place at the Blackwater Civic Centre between 10.00 am-12.00 pm. Build your own clay/plasticine model and take it home with you. This is not an instructed course but will be guided by council staff. This activity requires parent supervision for participants under the age of 10.

    Bluff Skate Park – Tuesday 29 September: This activity will depart from Blackwater PCYC car park at 9:30 am and return at 1:30 pm. Activity includes BBQ lunch at Bluff Skate Park. Participants need to bring their own scooter and helmet. This activity is restricted to participants aged 10 and above.

    Dive in Movie Night – Friday 2 October: Continue to celebrate the new pool season with entry into the Dive in Movie Night screening of “Sonic the Hedgehog”, running 6:30 pm-9.00 pm. Free entry to all members of the community. Children under the age of 12 must be supervised by a parent or guardian. Normal pool rules apply for this event. The movie will begin as close to 7.00 pm as possible. Weather events may impact screening.

    Basketball Comp (5 on 5) – Saturday 19 September: Join our 5 on 5 basketball comp and have some fun. This activity will run at the Capella Basketball Courts between 11.00 am -1.00 pm. This activity is restricted to participants aged 10 and above. Please ensure you have a hat, water bottle and enclosed shoes.

    Slime Time at Cultural Centre – Monday 21 September: Join us in making ooey gooey slime. This activity will take place at the Capella Cultural Centre between 1.00 pm- 2.00 pm. This activity is restricted to participants aged 10 and above. All materials and equipment will be provided.

    Pyjama and Pizza Movie Night – Friday 2 October: This activity will take place at the Capella Cultural Centre from 6.00 pm. Entry is free for all members of the community with a free pizza per family.  Bookings essential – call Les on 07 4984 9300

    You can book your space for Springsure holiday activities here.

    Graffiti Art Workshop – Thursday 24 September: Learn to draw your name in a cool graffiti style. This activity will run in-person at the Bauhinia Art Gallery, Springsure between 10.00 am-11.00 am. In-person participation is restricted to ages 10 and over. All other ages can participate by joining the Facebook Live Broadcast Event of this workshop at home.

    Movie night at the Pool – Saturday 26 September: The community outdoor screening of “Sonic The Hedgehog!” is free for all community members and will take place at the Springsure Pool. The movie will begin as close to 7.00 pm as possible. Weather events may impact screening. Please check in with event organisers before the film begins.

    Skate Jam – Wednesday 30 September: Join us for a skate park jam sesh and pizza at the Springsure Skate Park between 10.00 am-12.00 pm. This activity is recommended for participants aged 10 and above. Parent supervision is required for participants under the age of 10. Participants are required to wear helmets and ride to their abilities. Normal skate park rules apply.

    Movie night at Rubyvale Flats – Friday 18 September: The screening of “Addams Family” is free for all community members. The movie will begin as close to 7.00 pm as possible. Weather events may impact screening.Please check in with event organisers before the film begins..

    Slime Time at Miners Common Museum – Saturday 26 September: Join us in making ooey gooey slime. This activity will take place at the Rubyvale Miners Common Museum between 9.00 am-11.00 am. This activity is restricted to participants aged 10 and above only. All materials and equipment will be provided.

     

  • Rolleston Activities

    Backyard Sports at Beazley Park – Tuesday 22 September: Join us in a range of backyard sports activities at Beazley Park, Rolleston between 10.00 am-12.00 pm. This activity requires parental supervision for participants under the age of 10. Please ensure you have a hat, water bottle and enclosed shoes. At the event, please ensure to check in with staff on site.

    Wind Chime Craft – Thursday 1 October: Test your crafting skills by making wind chimes in the supper room of the Rolleston Community Hall between 10.00 am -12.00 pm. This activity requires parental supervision for participants under the age of 10. All materials and equipment will be provided.

    Movie Night at Lions Park – Saturday 19 September: Join us for a free community screening of “Scoob!” at Tieri Lions Park. The movie will begin as close to 7.00 pm as possible. Weather events may impact screening. Please check in with event staff before the film begins.

    Slime Time – Friday 25 September: Join us in making ooey gooey slime. This activity will take place at the Tieri Lions Park between 1.00 pm-2.00 pm. This activity is restricted to participants aged 10 and above only. All materials and equipment will be provided.

Participants are asked to wear enclosed shoes or bring a pair of socks with them. This activity is restricted to participants aged 10 and above. Additional permission form is required.

Participants need to being swimwear with them as well as a hat, water bottle, sunscreen and a change of clothes. This activity is restricted to participants aged 10 and above. Additional permission form is required.

    Bluff Skate Day – Tuesday 29 September: This activity does not require a booking. It will run 10.00 am-1.00 pm at Bluff Skate Park and include drinks and a BBQ lunch. All members of the community are welcome to join.

    Slime Time – Thursday 8 October: We will be bringing our ooey gooey slime making to Bauhinia School on Thursday 8 October. Two weeks wasn’t long enough to fit all our activities in, so we will be continuing the fun during the first week of school.

Rocky Bowl and Leisure – Tuesday 22 September: (Cost $20) This activity will depart the Comet ‘Dig Tree’ rest area at 7:20 am and return at 4.00 pm. Activity includes two games of bowling and two games of laser tag at the Rockhampton Bowl and Leisure Centre at a reduced rate. Participants are asked to wear enclosed shoes or bring a pair of socks with them. This activity is restricted to participants aged 10 and above. Additional permission form is required.

Yeppoon Lagoon – Thursday 24 September: This activity will depart the Comet ‘Dig Tree’ rest area at 7:10 am and return at 4:20 pm. Activity includes lunch and swimming at Yeppoon Lagoon. Participants need to being swimwear with them as well as a hat, water bottle, sunscreen and a change of clothes. This activity is restricted to participants aged 10 and above. Yeppoon Lagoon – Thursday 24 September: This activity will depart from outside Bluff State School at 7:45 am and return at 3:45 pm. Activity includes lunch and swimming at Yeppoon Lagoon. Participants need to being swimwear with them as well as a hat, water bottle, sunscreen and a change of clothes. This activity is restricted to participants aged 10 and above. Additional permission form is required.

Bluff Skate Day – Tuesday 29 September: This activity does not require a booking. It will run 10.00 am-1.00 pm at Bluff Skate Park and include drinks and a BBQ lunch. All members of the community are welcome to join.

Movie night at Dingo Town Hall – Saturday 3 October: Join us for a screening of “Sonic The Hedgehog”. This event is free for all community members. The movie will begin as close to 7.00 pm as possible. Please check in with event organisers before the film begins.

Movie night at Duaringa Golf Club – Sunday 4 October: Join us for an outdoor screening of “Sonic The Hedgehog”. Free for all community members at Duaringa Golf Club. The movie will begin as close to 7.00 pm as possible. Weather events may impact screening. Please check in with event organisers before the film begins.

Slime Time – Monday 28 September: Join us in making ooey gooey slime. This activity will take place at the Arcadia Valley Recreation Hall between 11.00 am -12.00 pm. This activity is recommended for participants aged 8 and above. Parental supervision is required for participants under the age of 10. All materials and equipment will be provided.

 

Slime Time – Thursday 8 October: We will be bringing our ooey gooey slime making to Bauhinia School on Thursday 8 October. Two weeks wasn’t long enough to fit all our activities in, so we will be continuing the fun during the first week of school.
