Australia Day Awards – Conditions of entry

  • Nominations must be received by 5.00 pm, Monday 6 January 2020. Late entries will not be accepted.
  • Nominations can be made online or in hardcopy at council customer service centres and libraries.
  • Nominees must be an Australian citizen and reside within the local government boundary of Central Highlands Regional Council.
  • Nominees in the Young Citizen of the Year Award must be aged 25 or under as at 26 January 2020.
  • Nominees in the Junior Sports Award must be aged 17 years or under as at 26 January 2020.
  • Previous recipients of any award are not eligible to win that same award for a period of three years.
  • An individual can be nominated in more than one category, but a separate form must be completed.
  • Individuals and organisations may submit nominations.
  • Nominations must address all selection criteria for their category and include a detailed and truthful evidence.
  • Please do not send originals of supporting documentation, as all documentation will be retained by the Central Highlands Regional Council.
  • A selection panel will be formed consisting of, at least, one council representative (councillor or staff) and a minimum of two community members. The panel’s decision is final, and no correspondence will be entered into regarding winners.
  • In the absence of any nominations for a category, the panel will make its own nominations based on local knowledge and experience.
  • The awards will be presented during Australia Day celebrations across the region on 26 January 2020.
