GC2018 Queen’s Baton Relay

Only ONE sleep until the Queen’s Baton Relay arrives in the Central Highlands!

Seven communities will celebrate with free activities, food and entertainment on 22 and 23 March 2018 as the Queen’s Baton visits. Onlookers can expect to be inspired as the relay shares its message of celebrating diversity, community pride and peaceful and friendly competition in sports.

Festivities will culminate in Emerald, hosting an Epic Street Party with comedy MC, sports star guest speaker, live music, free food, photo booth, giveaways and games for all ages.

Across Australia 3,800 batonbearers will share the dream of the ‘friendly Games’ as part of the longest and most accessible Relay in history. Eighty-four of these are from the Central Highlands region. For a full list of batonbearers head here.

As it is passed between people, the Baton embraces the modern and multicultural Commonwealth of today, engaging with young and old, increasing our sense of connection and our understanding of each other.

Besides safely containing Her Majesty’s message, the QBR shares the excitement of the Games with millions of people around the world, shining a light on the Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia and the Games to come.
