The Central Highlands Regional Council owns and operates the Emerald Airport, which is located
6 km south of the Emerald town centre.
The region is serviced by three commercial airlines:

These services fly in and out of Emerald regularly with more than 50 services per week.

EMERALD AIRPORT SECURITY
Since 1 May 2012, passengers departing from the Emerald Airport undergo security screening. The implementation of security screening at Emerald Airport requires that all passengers arrive at the Emerald Airport in sufficient time to undergo the procedures and ensure their flights depart on time.

EMERALD AIRPORT FACILITIES
Short Term Car Park
The public carpark located directly in front of the terminal building provides easy access to the terminal, with disabled car parking available.
There is no charge for the first one hour use of the short term car park. Payment can be made by cash or credit card (Visa or Mastercard) at one of the two automatic payment machines located on site. Spaces cannot be booked for the public car park.

Long Term Car Park
Council recently opened a long-term car park on a temporary basis at Emerald Airport. This temporary car park added an additional 104 spaces to the existing car park, while planning and construction continues on a permanent long-term car parking area for the airport.
The long term car park is located on the south eastern side of the airport, go past the short term and the boom gate is on the left.

The Emerald Airport has a kiosk facility that provides light refreshments for passengers and visitors.

A General Aviation parking apron is available with lighting and aircraft tie down facilities.
There are also a number of airstrips in the Central Highlands Region that Council also operates for light aircraft landings - all officially classified as ALA "Aeroplane Landing Areas". These ALAs are unattended with serviceability inspections infrequent and only undertaken after severe weather events or by notified aircraft movement.
Wildlife hazard and, in some cases, stock movement may exist - CAUTION REQUIRED.
It is the responsibility of the pilot to contact the relevant ARO for the latest details and for permision to use.

Capella - The airstrip is located approximately 2km west south west from the town centre. Runway 18/36 - natural surface - Length: 980m Width: 10m.

Rolleston - The aerodrome is located approximately 1 km north west of the town centre.
Runway 14/32 - sealed surface - Length: 1150m Width: 15m. Max 5700 kg MTOW not suitable for commercial activity. Emergency solar lighting - OLS hazard (sportsground lighting towers) located SW of rwy 32.

Springsure - The aerodrome is located approx 1km south of the town centre.
Runway 13/31 - sealed surface - Length: 1250m Width: 9m
Runway 01/19 - sealed surface - Length: 600m Width: 15m
Apron west of rwy19 in front of small building.
Basic facilities available (toilets, drinking water, seats, tie-down points (wire cable anchored to concrete) in grassed area in line with building.
OLS hazard exists (housing, powerlines) in approach rwy 01 - max. 5700 kg MTOW not suitable for commercial activities - emergency services IWI located SSW of building.
