CHRC Libraries

The Central Highlands Regional Council manages eleven libraries within our region. Each of these libraries provides up to date information and resources for members and visitors.

 

All of our libraries offer a range of books for adults, youth and juniors, large print resources and a variety of audio visual materials.

 

Low cost public internet is also accessible .

Emerald Library Activities 

COMPUTER CLASSES FOR BEGINNERS

Dates | Every Wednesday from 6 February - 13 March 2013

Time | 11am - 12pm and 2pm - 3pm

From basics to surfing the internet, this free 6 week course is designed to give participants the skills to use their computer effectively. Bookings are essential for each session as places are limited. Some laptops will be provided, or you can bring your own.

HANGING WEB GLOBES

Dates | Every weekday from 21-25 January 2013.

Time | 2.00pm – 3.00pm

Ages | 8 years of age and up.

Bookings are required.

KIDS TIME

Dates | Tuesday, Thursday and Fridays weekly.

Time | 10.30am – 11.30am

Ages | 0-5 years of age – parental supervision

PLEASE NOTE – The Emerald Library will be closed for Christmas from 3pm on 24 December and will re-open on Wednesday 2 January 2013.

Online Library Catalogue

You can access and browse through the CHRC Online Library Catalogue at home by simply contacting your local library to get a PIN and password. You will be able to see what the library has in stock, write reviews of what you have read and even check your past loans.

Bolinda Digital

 

Our libraries offer a free online audiobook service where you can to download and listen to the latest fiction and non-fiction bestsellers. These downloads are perfect to listen to on long drives or while exercising. The MP3 audio titles can also be put onto your iPod or mp3 player for easy use.

  1. Before you get started, you will need:
    • Library membership number.
    • Password (contact your library if you don't already have one).
    • A valid email address.
  2. Go to http://library.bolindadigital.com/chrc
  3. Click on the Sign In button to login.
  4. Follow the instructions to browse, borrow, confirm and download!

Home Library Service

 

If you are finding that you love the services of the Emerald and Springsure libraries, but just can’t make it into town personally, you may find benefit with the Home Library Service. 

 

Emerald and Springsure libraries have a well-established service delivering books, DVD’s and audio recordings to your door.

Emerald Library Activities

 

After School Activities

The Emerald library offers after school activities for children aged between 8-13 years. These sessions are fully supervised and run from 3pm - 5pm, every weekday afternoon (except for public holidays) in the back room of the Emerald Library. All you need to do is sign in and out on the whiteboard. 

 

The activities are varied across the week and include study time, board games, X-Box races and movies. The library offers one hour of free internet access for students to use Yourtutor Online for homework assistance.

 

Activities for the Little Ones

The Emerald library hosts weekly activities for the little ones called KIDS TIME. These activities are suitable for children between ages 0-5 years. KIDS TIME is every Tuesday, Thursday and Friday morning from 10.30am – 11.30am. They read stories, sing songs, have a little dance then do craft activities. There is a different theme every week.

 

Daddy's Time

Dad’s and Kid’s only. These sessions are a great opportunity for Dad’s to spend time with their children while they listen to stories, recite nursery rhymes, sing songs and get involved with craft activities. All of these fun activities are designed to assist with literacy development and the involvement of Dad just makes them all the more powerful and fun. These sessions are held on the second last Saturday of each month, 9.30am - 10.30am.
