Sport and Recreation Officer Appointed to Assist Local Clubs
It’s no secret the Central Highlands region is continuing to grow in leaps and bounds. It has become clear that the development of local sport, recreation and associated facilities are in need of some attention.
To keep up with the fast paced sport and recreation scene, Central Highlands Regional Council have appointed Warwick Ahern as a full time Sport and Recreation Officer.
Warwick has been assigned the important task of ensuring that all associated clubs in our region continue to receive the support required, whilst leading them towards a positive goal of sustainable practice.
Having been in the temporary position since September 2011, Warwick has already been involved in many projects. Now that his role has been transformed into a permanent position, Warwick will have an opportunity to obtain a clear indication of where sport and recreation is heading in the future. This full time position was formerly held by Michael Priddle who has resigned to take up a role with the State Government in Brisbane.
Warwick has the base knowledge of local sport and recreation clubs in our region. CHRC strongly encourage all clubs to get in contact with Warwick, and ensure they are receiving the correct information. He can also help to promote club events and information.
With such a large area to cover, Warwick will be travelling throughout the Central Highlands region over the coming weeks to familiarise himself with the facilities which are presently available.
Central Highlands Regional Council is currently developing this sport and recreation page, which is designed to provide the public with a central point of information. More informaton will be uploaded to this page over the coming months.
For more information on how Warwick can assist your club, he can be contacted at Council by phone 1300 242 686 or email wahern@chrc.qld.gov.au
