Think 2031
Central Highlands Regional Council is undertaking the Central Highlands Strategic Framework, which will inform land use development and Council policy over the next 20 years.
Council invites the community to think about the land use developments they would like to see in 2031 as they review and comment on the draft Strategic Framework.
Community feedback from the CH2022 Community Planning Project has informed the draft Strategic Framework.
What is Strategic Framework?
This document sets out Council’s strategic policy position and future planning outcomes for land use and development; infrastructure; environmental areas; resource; economic, cultural and community values.
The Sustainable Planning Act 2009 required Queensland Local Governments to develop a strategic framework.
This Strategic Framework consists of seven elements:
- Settlement pattern
- Natural environment
- Community identity and diversity
- Natural resources and landscape
- Access and mobility
- Infrastructure and services
- Economic development
Why do we need a Strategic Framework?
This is an important step towards consolidating the articulating future land use for Central Highlands Local Government area.
Planning processes have been designed to ensure a high level of consistency and integration between the Central Highlands 2022 Community Plan, CHRC Planning Scheme and other key planning documents.
The Central Highlands Strategic Framework will inform the Council’s Planning Scheme with features zoning and overlays to provide a consistent approach to the management of land use and development in our region.
Future Direction
The Central Highlands Region Strategic Framework will clarify our vision for the region’s long-term future and how we will work together to deliver this vision.
The Strategic Framework is scheduled for adoption by Council in October 2012.
